Bearsden Lawn Tennis Club is a thriving tennis club, providing excellent facilities for both social and team players. Founded in 1887, the club is one of the oldest in the region and is set in a most attractive location near Bearsden Cross. Initially, it occupied two courts in Ledcameroch Road near Bearsden Station and moved to Jubilee Gardens in 1902, after being given two weeks notice to quit at the end of the 1901 season! In September 1987, the clubhouse was destroyed by fire and was replaced with the existing purpose-built brick building. The three remaining blaes courts were converted to artificial grass in July 1994 and the fourth court was resurfaced in 1996. A practice facility was added in 1997. Floodlighting was also installed on all four courts. The three main courts were most recently resurfaced in February 2013, with Court 4 being done in August 2012. A Mini Tennis court was added in 2006, along with resurfacing and revamping of the car parking area. A clubhouse extension was added in 2018, and the whole clubhouse was modernised and fitted-out to provide excellent facilities. The membership currently stands at about 240. We currently field 4 Ladies, 4 Mens, 6 Veterans, 3 Juniors and 3 Mini-Tennis teams in the West of Scotland Leagues. Should I Join the Club? If
you join the club, you are entitled to come and use the courts and practice
wall, you can invite a visitor to the club and you can get a discount
